IMEC works to strengthen responsible mountain tourism by supporting better practices, stronger partnerships, and positive outcomes for the people, communities, and environments connected to mountain travel.
Our work brings together tourism companies, mountain communities, climbers, local organizations, and other stakeholders to encourage responsible practices and help create lasting positive impact in mountain destinations.
Through our programs and partnerships, we support initiatives focused on responsible tourism, worker welfare, education, community development, and environmental stewardship.
Our work is global in scope, with projects and partnerships developed in response to the needs and opportunities of individual mountain destinations.
In Tanzania we facilitate the KRTO organisation. Our Program for responsible tourism is well know, also by it’s monitoring project Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP).
